No no no! There should not be a remake of “Romancing the Stone”!
No No No No! All of these remakes of my favorite movies are really getting to me. Like it isn’t bad enough that the economy is crumbling around us and I have to wait until next year for any good TV shows other than Top Chef, but now I have to worry about someone else stepping into Joan Wilder’s shoes? Are you kidding me? Um seriously, what was the point of the writers’ strike earlier this year, if the only thing studios are doing are remaking beautiful comedic gems from the early 1980’s? Anyways, the dude who co-wrote “Eagle Eye”, Daniel McDermott, has been tapped by Fox, who else, to write a remake of the romantic comedy classic “Romancing the Stone”. The movie that propelled Kathleen Turner, Michael Douglas and Danny Devito into another class of movie stars, follows a sad and restrained romance novelist, Joan Wilder, played beautifully by Turner and her adventures in the jungles of Columbia with Jack Colton, a mysterious figure played by Douglas.
